Ghost flights??

Postby vololiberista » Mon Oct 02, 2006 7:22 am

Some time ago I installed Kai Tak which works fine. With the package came some AI flightplans which I had to compile with TTools. I then put the compiled bgl file into fs9\scenery\world\scenery directory. But, they don't show. Have I missed a step?
AI a/c from the default file show up because i went through the list laboriously changing Chep Lak Kok to Kai Tak.

AI for other airport packages work fine.

Did you check the airports involved to make sure there was enough parking spaces? And when you compiled it it should have made two TXT files if not then something is wrong. Perhaps if you list some of the lines here we can check them for errors. If you do not get the syntax right it could cause all kind of problems.
The only other thing that would cause them not to show up is the traffic slider is not turned up enough. You control the rate at which they become active so if you have it set for 75% and your slider is below that than you will not see that trafic. 8)

I installed a Kai Tak too some time ago, and its AFCAD file was a copy of the FS9 default one, with the runway disabled and no parkings.

I thought to reactivate it all so to make the scenery worthwhile, but decided to uninstall the everything instead, because was depleted uranium heavy, and returned to default scenery only bettered by a functional AFCAD.

My suggestion is; try and see with AFACD if the airport is enabled first. If the runway is, like in the default, only a deactivated tarmac strip with taxiways adorned of a nice big X, then you need an AFCAD file for your scenery to make the AI planes land and populate your Kai Tak.

The airport works fine and is fully populated and used by the default AI but the AI that came with the airport download is never seen even with a 100% setting!!!!!! I had to compile airports, aircraft and flightplans text files into traffic_vhhx.bgl . I think I'm missing out an important step somewhere.

Ok I hope I do not get this wrong as I have never made manual ai traffic before but I think it goes like this.
You make the flight plans using note pad or some other txt file editor. You then put the flight plans in the same folder as ttools is in and run ttools using the flight plans you just made as input when it compiles the flight plans it will make a bgl file and two txt files one called airports and the other called aircraft i think that is right. You then move the bgl file into the scenery/world/scenery folder and that should do it.
But you have to make sure that the airports you will use have enough parking spaces or the flights will not show up. 8)

Do you have the aircraft used by the flightplan installed?

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.
