Sim rate vs ASI   ??

Postby Sullyvan » Thu Sep 21, 2006 8:25 pm

When I turn up the Sim rate (eg x2), am now flying twice as fast but ASI shows same old speed. Do I have a computer problem, or do I misunderstand something here?   Sully

I understand - I am, in effect then, fast forwarding. OK then, how do I experience 3 or 4 hundred mph low level flight. I recently bought a new system primarily because I could not go low level fast in the cockpit with a laptop. I have spent 25 years in Army helicopters and have a very good sense of airspeed at low levels. When ASI reads 300 I'm not even near 100 - in any FS9 a/c. Again, what do I still notunderstand here?

I just flew the default Lear at 325kias, 300agl and believe me.. I got the sensation that I was 300 feet above the groung going 325 knots..

Now.. the only real-world reference I have is flying a Seneca at 180kias, 500agl..
