Weird "Fish eye" spot view.

Hi all.

I sometimes, and for no apparent reason, get a very strange effect when I change to Spot View. It's as if I'm seeing it through a "Fish Eye" camera lens. The whole aircraft appears distorted and I don't seem to be able to zoom out very far. All other views are fine and it doesn't happen all the time or with any particular aircraft. If I re-load the aircraft or change to another one it is fine. A pal of mine says it occasionally happens to him and he has a tottally different PC setup to mine so I don't think it's hardware.
Not a big deal but a bit annoying.
Any ideas?

Cheers :)
Zaphod.

This usualy happens when you've switched from one size plane to another. The only fix that i'm aware of is to pause the system and then reload the aircraft.

Actually Simon, you might have hit the nail on the head. If I remember rightly the last time it happened I'd changed from a Cessna skyhawk to a DC3!
Does this happen to everyone then?

If when in spot view, go to menu/views/.
You will see distance adjustments. You can zoom in or out.
Distance is usually around 150 or so then you can fine tune with the other adjustment.

The best way to deal with this is to have something like F1View installed. You can use the wheel on your mouse to reset the 'default' distance in spot view.

Just hit backspace and then use the wheel to move in or out. The distance you leave it at then becomes the new 'default' for that session ie if you use + or - to zoom the view in or out, hitting backspace will immediately put you back at the 'default' distance you have set.

Easy and elegant - bit like me actually....  ;)

Thanks Rollerball.
As it happens I already have F1View but have only ever used it in the VC. The next time I get an attack of the "fish eyes" I'll give it a try.

Thanks to all for the quick responces.

Zaphod, along the lines of what Fly2e said, the solution is in alt menu/views/view options.  There, you can change the distance.  Normal distance is about 320'.

Thanks Beefhole.
I'm sure that I tinkered with the "view options" when this first occured, but I may be wrong. Trust me, when it happens again I'll try all the suggestions...

Many thanks.
