Bellanca Scout: Panel upgrade.

Hello Lads and Lasses... ;D...!

For all those Bellanca Scout, (Wheel, ski, float, tundra), enthusiasts, I have slightly modified the 2D instrument panel to include a couple of extra welcome gauges for the aid of radio navigation pilots..... ;)...!
1) A heading indicator gauge, (to save swopping views).
2) An Avionics switch so that the Nav-King Radios work!
2) A Carburettor heat control for those cold, wet days.
(A wiener heater will require a pair of sheep-skin underpants, I'm afraid)...;)...!

...and the modified instrument panel showing the extra gauges...>>>

Add these entries to the end of your Panel.cfg file:
(Make a back-up first!).

gauge25=Cessna!Avionics Switch,  132,720,37 // Fozzers New Avionics switch!
gauge26=Ward-Carb heat,  168,690,70 //Fozzers new carb heat!
gauge27=Cessna!Heading_Indicator,134,624,90,90 //Fozzers new Heading Indicator!

A fantastic, all-purpose aeroplane... ;D...!

Cheers all...!

Paul... 8)...!

Ya know, i've never flown that model before :o

.....Which is unlike me because it's a beautifull aircraft, and perfect for flying the back country ;)

Did you look here at SimV? Took me two minutes to find it ;)

Never mind the fact that i've already downloaded it, the search function is REALLY easy to use. And i'm sure all of the popular file libraries have it ;)

Tee-Hee... ;D..!

Your version of what you consider to be a "Bush" is a little different to mine, Andrew... ;)... ;)... ;)...:P...!

Back on topic. That's a nice little plane Paul but I can't do your panel mod without the Ward gauge. I suspect this is part of your collection of antique gauges. :P ;)

Pinch a Carb Heat gauge from one of the existing aircraft in your Hangar which has one....

It's what I do... ;)...!

Paul...expert at pinching things... ;D...!

P.A. anyone who has the Cessna 152's, CC-KAA, or CC-KDF will have the "Carb heat gauge" in their Gauges Folder... ;)...!

I'm a little surprised that the Scout has a controllable pitch prop....

...money no object, Andrew... ;)...!

It works fine tho', together with the Throttle and Mixture controls... 8)...!

Paul.... ;D...!

Constant speed prop...>>>

Maybe you could explain something to me....

When I fly my non-complex aircraft that have a fixed pitch prop, I can easily use the tachometer to gauge how much I need to lean the mixture to a more efficient setting. I simply lean it out and stop when the RPMs peak.

But when I fly a complex aircraft, I'm still trying to figure that all out. I know the throttle controls the manifold gauge, and the prop control controls the the RPMs.  How do I tell how much I need to lean out the mixture?

-Andrew, the confused...... ;)

The complex aircraft like the default Beechcraft B58D is excellent to try it out on, observing the engine dials...
I keep both the Throttle and Prop levers level with each other and the both the needles in "the green" with the needles facing each other...
...and adjust the mixture to get a reasonable fuel flow while at the same time obtaining a reasonable power/speed.
Keep an eye on the CHT* and EGT** gauges...  ;)...!

There's a bit more to it than that, but it's a start...;)...!

Cheers...!
