Airport terrain

Postby crazyzeke » Sun Feb 19, 2006 3:32 pm

For some strange reason, I have lost the terrain inside the perimeter of all airports.  That is, the grass does not appear and the surrounding buildings, streets, trees ect  are present.  Does anyone have a suggestion to correct this problem?   This is error is really taking the realism from my hobby!  >:(

Crazyzeke.
First of all, welcome to simviation.
What you are describing is not a problem with "terrain" but a problem with missing "textures". Terrain is used to represent hills valleys, cliffs and mountains etc. in other words the ups and downs ;D. Textures are what are used to "paint" the areas we see with detail.
Have you installed any new scenery recently?
I'm sure wiser heads than mine are going to be able to help with this problem .
In the mean time, all the best.

Thanks.   To be more specifc for others....  The runways, taxiways and building appear correctly. It's just that the scenery for streets and other items appear in the grass areas   . I'm willing to bet that I somehow turned something off or overwrote something when I installed some scenery files.

If anyone has suggestions, I'm willing to listen.

All airports world wide? Or all airports within a certain area; continent, or partial continent?

..........when I installed some scenery files.

Do you have a list of the scenery packages that you suspect?  Package(s) you installed just before the problem first occurred.

In particular any that placed or overwrote files anywhere inside the main scenery folder (....\FS2004\Scenery\...).

There was a certain grass texture update you could install, which overwrote grass files to create it.  If you downloaded and installed, you would have overwritten your old files, and somehow ended up with no textures for grass...

my 2 cents, don't know if it will help

Thanks Dave3cu and Viper22.  Last night I even went as far as reinstalling FS9. I still had the same problem. (This landscape problems is at all airports.)   I think Viper22 is right. I have previously installed grass textures and I thinke they overwrote some type of command/file.  OK, so here's what I'm gonna do...Add a new grass type for airports.  If that doesn't work, to hell with it.  I plan on using the FSX and I'll just suffer a minor inconvience until then.

Thanks for the ideas.  Keep the prop edges filed nice and smooth!
