Hello.
If you deleted the main Scenery CFG file, you will have a problem.
However, if you have got yourself a new scenery CFG off the disc, just copy and paste it in the FS9 Root folder as that is where it goes.
As for when it starts, you may encounter some errors if you have added any add on sceneries.....

Cheers Dave, is that the D:programfiles/microsoftgames/fs9 or something?
if it is it loaded the game but with very very minimal scenery, white between taxiways etc.

Yes
Program Files/Microsoft Games/FS9
Just paste it in there, if the original is missing you will not be prompted to overwrite anything.
May I ask why you are referencing the "D" drive?
Shouldn't it be the "C" drive that FS9 is located in?

Ironic, I used to have a Sony Vaio so I am familiar with your set up.
Does it have a 10 gig C drive and like a 20 gig D drive?
More important, did the above procedure work?

As a point of interest,I have 2 separate HDs, when we installed FS9 it was put in D drive but M$ in their wisdom put scenery.cfg in C. We had hunted all over for it then finally found it in C drive. It appears FS9 puts some parts in Cdrive but the main part resides in D. Thought we had goofed on the install so did it again, same thing. Conclusion is I dont know what I am doing! P.S. to find it we used the windows find function.

I found it on cd 1 but the case of the word scenery was wrong, but i think that was the reason it didn't work when i copied it, check the case against the other file names to see the proper format, if that doesnt work then hide your plane/add on scenery/gauges etc folders somewhere else on your hard drive so the uninstall program won't delete them and then re install it

I don't know what you chaps have been up to. There's a Scenery.cfg file in the FS9 root directory & a duplicate in the C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9 folder. The case shouldn't make any difference. It can be Scenery.cfg, scenery.CFG, SCENERY.CFG or any variation & still work. I think the scenery database is written when you first run FS9 after installing it so copying the file from the CD might not be any use. If you can't find it in the Recycle Bin the best bet might be to copy the duplicate into the FS9 root directory if that hasn't been messed up.
