This may well have happened previously. I originally installed fs2004 in 07/03, and it has worked fine since. Recently it has started to fail; logbook wont work, neither keyboard or joystick. Then more failed, ie "getting started", "lessons" etc.  I uninstalled the whole program and reinstalled, then realized I should hace uninstalled the update  first.  I reinstalled fs2004 uninstalled the update and then uninstalled fs2004 again. The last installation did not work.  It stops at 20% at fsweb\gettingstarted\gs3vd1.wmv.  What have I done to foul everything up so badly and is it correctable?

Have you downloaded 3rd party aircraft and installed them? Because I encountered a similar problem as well (except for the re-install only going to 20% ) I am not sure what to do about it not reinstalling, but I suggest you go through your hard drive and make sure that everything related to MSFS9 is deleted before you re-install.

Have you tried the 'Uninstall' option from CD#1.

Also check Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs and Start>Programs for any auto-installed FS add-ons that have 'uninstall' options. Its possible they could have registry entries interferring  with your  FS uninstall/install.
