767-400 vs Any other heavy?

Ive been FS'ing for years now. I like commercial jets, especially the large ones, like the 747 and A330, have no problem with take off, approach, landing etc. I just downloaded a Boeing 767-400, and I have never flown anything with flight dynamics like this, the closest would have to be the Air Force refueling tanker, but I still handled that quite well. Is this true in the RW? I can barely get this thing in to any type of bank to turn it.

Make sure that the LVL, HDG, and NAV hold switches are off, if they are on, the autopilot won't allow the plane to bank.

Right, they are all off. I can barely bank the plane when autopilot is off. I took off from JFK for LAX, the plane stalled between 7-8 degree climb rate at full thrust. I understand that the plane IS a "heavy", but Ive never flown anything like this, it handles worse than an Antonov Transporter.

Hmm. Did you accidentaly change something in the .cfg? I've done that a few times and messed up many a good plane.. ::)

Ive only messed with one .cfg file, long ago, and ive stayed far away from it after that :-)  From your (or anyones) opinion, is the 764 completely different from other heavies? I ace the 744 and A333, but Im lost on the 764.

Try reinstalling- it shouldn't be THAT different. Sure, its a slow aeroplane in terms of handling, but maybe something has gone wrong...

Well you shouldn't need to reinstall if it's just that one plane that's giving you trouble. Delete it from the Aircraft folder and download it again.

Cyberspace, ya know?

If its a Posky 767 its probably just underpowered.  I found that will all their 767s :-/  Even the real world thrust is to little for them.  Not sure why but I'm guessing theres probably a variable wrong in the .cfg   I usualy add a couple thousand extra pounds of thrust to the point where its not overpowerd but will accualy cruise at .82 like its supposed to ;)  As for banking I haven't had that problem with them ???

After you've selected your aircraft, and are back at the create a flight screen, check the 'fuel and payload'.  Play around with the options, and see if at first it gives you a:

'Warning: Plane is 523,562,793,692lbs overweight'

or something of the sort.

Dude, not a total reinstall! I mean just reinstall the plane!

..mmm.....I seem to remember a similar happening some while ago..........think that was a Posky too but maybe somebody will recall it...........in the end I remember we borrowed an air file from another similar aircraft and it flew very well after that..........

My old memory banks aren't what they were but I have just for fun tried it with a 777 air file by renaming it to the right name and backing up the original first............flies a treat now....

.....or if you have AirEd you could modify the .air file .......up the Control surfaces effectiveness by say 50 that will also make it turn better...........commoner. ;)
