FlightSim Freezes

Ok when I'm at the main page in FS9, and go to the "Select A Flight" option FlightSim completely freezes up on me and I have to shut it down.  Also, if I'm in flight and want to save my flight (by pressing the ";" key,) a black screen comes up, but not the save flight option.  Can anyone explain this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  :)

When testing FS9 for anomalies use the default startup (Seattle or Meigs); both these flights should have your aircraft parked on the runway. Are either of these selectable?
P.S. Did you recently install scenery of AF2 files?

alot of games freeze to graphics , you may want to check if you have compatible graphics with flight simulator

Yes I did install an AF2 pack a couple of weeks ago for KLGA.
