Temp & pressure settings how to?

Postby alb469 » Thu Feb 02, 2006 3:17 pm

How can you adjust things like oil press. cyl head temp etc. The only thing we found in the a/c cfg was the hyd. press setting. For example we have a dual gauge for a piston engine that shows EGT and Cyl HEAD temps. The EGT part works but not the cyl head temp it shows nothing and never moves.  ???

All depends on the AC. Some are very detailed and would be effected by such things, others act like the engine is unbreakable and can tollerate full throttle for ever!

We tried an experiment by replacing the gauge  with the cylinder head temp from the default dc3 and it now shows a reading but its low.It does seem odd because the two a/c have the same PandW engines. Have looked in the air.cfg file but to my inexperienced eye have seen no reference to cyl temps. Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe head temp is not modeled at all in FS9, don't know for sure. However, the Constelation model i've got will overheat and the engines will shut down if run at full throttle for too long. Not sure if this is general temp or head temp but worth comparing the .cfg file of that one.

I'm pretty sure head temperature is modelled in FS2004.... have you tried adjusting the mixture?
Cheers,

The sim models cht and MP but Fs9 doesn't "model" things perfectly. Those variables are usually adjusted by combination in the .cfg, .air and .gau files. If you move a guage to a different airplane you will get unexpected results. FS doesn't model that stuff down to the physics level. The sim engine isn't that detailed.

There's also no reprecussions for incorrect settings in default and most run of the mill add on airplanes. Only time you see that is in a very detailed freeware  or a payware add on.

You either need to find a guage that gives better readings for that combo of .cfg and .air files or tweak a whole lot of things that I have no idea what all you are getting into. Better ask that in the design forum.  ;D
