Yes, my 707 turns like a fully loaded 747. Is this normal? I would like to loosen up the stearing a little. Where in the air Cfg. do I change that? Thanks, Wildie.

Bear in mind it's a big, old, heavy AC. It may be like that in real life.

Theres probably only 3 planes in the world (2 flying) that a 707 would be able to out turn. An-225 Myra, B-52 (BUFF), and  the Spruce Goose. 707s are big old birds, don't expect em to handle like your modern jets.
The 707 is a pig, so that probably explains the turning radius too.

The [flight_tuning] section is the easiest place loosen 'er up.

I think rate 1 is 3 degrees per second (altough I may be wrong thats the speed I remember) so it should't depend on speed

The best place to adjust the "heaviness" of a plane is  in these lines, in the aircraft.cfg file:

Those numbers are from a 737 (I think it's the default 737)..

These are from a 747:

Some designers get carried away trying to make their planes "feel" big and heavy..

I agree with Brett - and often it's a matter of 'feel' (and personal taste) with adjusting these figures. Mine for the 707 are set a little lower than the 747 but not by much - certainly nowhere near as low as the default 737.

These do make a difference - for example from the other extreme, the moment of inertia settings in the aircraft.cfg for the Posky 757 (which is the nearest Boeing in size to the 707, I think) are lower again than those of the default 737, so that it has a very light 'feel' which I'm not sure is right.

You have to be a little careful though - lower the values too far and the plane will start skipping around on the ground, as it won't have enough inertia to cope with  the mass of the plane.
