Hey gang, recently downloaded and started (trying) to learn the CIVA INS.  Being a noob here I probably missed something. Is there a forum for this? Also, is there a way to pull up LAT/LON info for any VOR while inflight?

Thanks,
Mick

How far have you gotten into the intruiging world of Inertial Nav? I ask you this question because it can spare me a whole lot of time (and typing  ;D )

The CIVA unit (actually short for Carousel IVa, If I'm not mistaken) is one nice old time INS though.

But tell us what your main problems are and we

I hear you.
INS is a very complex system (trust me on this one!)
But let's get to the solution of your first problem.
The waypoint data!
Like you said, the Carousel (unlike newer INS units) needs to be fed with Lat/Lon coordinates since it wont except waypoint names.

Here's the solution to you!

Simply type in your departure/destination airport, and the routefinder will come up with a suitable route, fix by fix AND their respective coordinates

Thanks for all your help  :)
Here is where I am after getting things off the ground and going in the right direction?  ???

I noticed the INS track stayed about 5-6 miles off course to the GPS track for same wpts. I'm sure this is within the tolerance range? I will refly the tutorial at least 5 more times to get it down pat. I have SO MUCH  to learn!  One question on radio management. Is it correct to enter the TO freq on NAV1 and the FROM freq on NAV2 after passing wpt? This is probably where I'm in error, as well as botching the DME updates!  :o 8)

Thanks

Great to hear about your progress =)
Although 5-6nm drift seems abit much at that early stage of your flight. Expect maybe a drift of say 2nm/hour.

Don't know why you are off set that much.  ??? Maybe due to only 1 INS is in service. I don't know
Mmm...but it makes me wanna install that INS gauge and use it again  ;D
