Hey, I'm kinda late in posting this...been busy the last couple of weeks.  While flying online with a friend, we were using real world weather back on Jan. 22. We were flying from kalamazoo, MI (KAZO) to Memphis, TN (KMEM)  when we were about 100 miles out we started our decents (I was in a 737-400 and he was in a lear 45)  at about FL 240 our altimeters started droping in 500 ft. incriments.  Then the Baro Pressure started going crazy as well as the milibars.  Auto Pilot was confussed as the altimeter said I was -5000 ft.   We had to take over manual. Had no actual indicator of airspeed or altitude.  It turns out the GPS Ground Speed was still acurate.  All in all We diverted and landed very hot (+250kts) at an alternate airport.  once on the ground everything went to normal and the altimeter was very high (3896 or something like that). We tried it again and it happened the second time.  We were just wondering if anyone else experienced that that day or has every experienced that. Let me know. Just curious...was the pitot heat turned on?  ;D

That happend to me today when i tried to fly from KBFI-YSST.I chose a high altitude airway route and real world weather.Somewhere over LA @40,000ft. the autopilot started going crazy baro was 112.8 and KIAS was around 700 knts. but gps ground speed  was 87knts and both altimiters where reading around 70.000 feet. I attributed it to the headwind  of 248 @ 85 degrees.

landed in LAX to await better conditions.

Shift-h activates the pitot heating in those panels (if one is so inclined to call them) which don't have the switch for it.

Though I would stay as far away from a panel like the 777 default as I could, and suggest you to find an alternative. Almost all the freeware panels for this plane are better than the half-assed attempt M$ did with it and recently saw a new one that was promising (though I didn't download it because I never use any 777).

oh yeah! Pitot heat ALWAYS on with me.  Friend didn't and we had same problem.
