instrument checkride

I keep failing the instrument checkride with the statement "You entered the holding pattern wrong" or something close to that. I can't figure out how I'm supposed to enter the hold without knowing where to hold. The instructions just say "Hold on the 140 radial."
Usually the holding instruction would give a direction as well as teh radial...such as ..."Hold Northwest on the 140 radial", but no clue here.
Any one know what they are looking for?
Thanks

HI all I know is the checkrides are full of bugs. There has been a few topics on these, I haven't done the checkrides so I didn't pay much attention to the advice. I hope someone else will be of more help.

I never got round to doing that Instrument checkride. However, I know they are passable. Keep trying. There are some good links somewhere - I'll see if I can find you them.
