I don't know if this is the proper forum or not but here is my trouble.  Certain aircraft I have most notably resource hogs like the ifly 744 and the RFP 742 at times cause my PC to totally shut down and re-start.  Now, I don't think it's vid related because with either aircraft I get a low but steady 20-24 FPS.  Could my ram be an issue here?  I currently only  have 768 meg of PC-3200.  I donated 256meg  to my wife's PC which I set-up for her when she moved out, I had 1 gig prior to that.  Any ideas guys?  Anyone else ever have shutdown/re-boot during FS session?

Try Memtest86 to see if your ram has any errors.
Heat could be the cause, (cpu and/or video card).
You might have your cpu clocked a little too high. If heat isn't excessive, try raising the vcore another 1/4 volt.

Usually  if there is a problem concerning the aircraft or if your CPU decides its had enough- it restarts so it doesnt risk damaging its main processor- im not an expert on this, but i think its just a computer thing, you know what theyre like

Well, it's true I do have it clocked up but normally it runs cool enough.  60C the alarm comes on for the cpu and system temp and I imagine shutdown/restart if probably not too far north of that.  Normally the cpu temp rund 48-52C and the system temp runs in the low 30's C but hey, who knows?  Maybe when the 6600 gets under heavy demand it may just cook it up in there enough to put the CPU temp over the edge.  I have been considering a higher volume CPU fan and a case fan.  I've been checking the cfm ratings on several makes but it's a tough choice when I don't know what the rating is on my current fans.  Some specs just aren't passed on to the user.  I think the most minute details need to be documented on any PC system especially for those like me who are their own technical support.  But, hey Paul, you have the perfect way to make lemonaide outta lemons.  You get your tea refill, I will take those opportunities to refill my cup o joe.  The coffee maker is always on-line in my house, can't fly without the stuff  ;D

I've had a couple of Brit aircraft (free downloads) that would lock up my system.  A certain Mosquito each and every time within seconds of its selection from the stable and some Hurricanes that would occasionally.... but only when they let me play for 5 or 10 minutes.

I really like the Brit planes from the WWII era so no slam is intended or meant in any way whatsoever.

My system is not set up for any over capacity..... only 256 RAM which works OK with the rest of my aircraft...  200 and counting.  More RAM is coming as I have a Christmas gift card to use up and I am going to have a gig.

Perhaps if I'd drink tea instead of coffee the Brit planes would treat me better.  Does green (Asian) tea count for the purpose?  Tea is tea, right?
