Just wanted to say hello to everyone on here..I just started playing and am anxious to know where I can find some information about the game regarding how to find the airport/airfield to land and how to make a good approach. Im kind of overwealmed on how the navigation works so any help is great.

Im also serving in the USAF in the reserves so playing this game really gets me excited.

Hi mate and welcome

Most of what you want to know is in the sim. Either in the docs or in the training sections (Getting Started and Flying Lessons).

I would suggest you begin there and complete most of the lessons. They are very good to get you started. I believe nearly anything possible in the sim is explained in the training stuff.

If you do have some trouble with something, or simply can't find in the game what you are looking, someone here will guide you in the right direction. I'm new here too and have been very pleased with all the friendly and helpful people here. You can spend hours just reading the archives. So much information here.

Good luck

Ah, I missed that. I guess I was writing while you posted about the crashing.

Did you do a 'full' install?
Do you get any error message?
Are you overclocking your system?
Have you ran Memtest86 to ensure you have no memory errors?
Might try reinstalling the sim as well as chipset/gfx card drivers.

From my experience the FS series is very stable. Normally crashing is something system related.

Does that mean it IS the minumum required, sounds like your settings in FS9 need turning down so you system can cope. Let us know what you exact system specs are and we can help further.

LOL, that rules that out then, hehe

It means to run your system faster than stock speeds. It can cause stability problems if pushed too far.

Could you list your full system specs, please?
Also, what OS you are using, i.e Win98/Me/XP?
Have you installed the official 9.1 patch?

ATI Mobility Radeon 9000

(have not installed the 9.1 patch)

Your system is fine for running the game.
Maybe reinstall chipset and gfx card drivers. It is always a good idea to reinstall these every once in a while. If it has been a long time since you installed them, they could be getting a little 'flacky'.

I would try that first. Try the game again and see if it still crashes. If so, I would then run memtest86 for a few loops. If no errors are found, I would defrag my HDD and would reinstall the game.

A1CF it looks like your system is capeable of running the game. Make sure that you did a full install and did not forget to install the lessons. When the game first comes up it should be in the getting started menu clicking on the lessons should bring up a list of lessons if not like others have said try uninstalling making sure you delete the fs folder and make sure you delete the fs9cfg file before reinstalling 8)

Is installing the lessons separate from the rest?

Seeing as yo uhave just started it makes sense to do an uninstall, defrag the hard drive and then do a fresh and full install.
Overclocking is the manual process of interfering with the running speeds of the computer. It is extremely risky and can blow your computer to bits... ;) My advice is unless you know what you are doing (or have plenty of money to throw around) don't overclock until you really know what you are doing. It always voids warranties to.
