Greetings fellow simmers...

i'm having a bit of a hard time with my most recent aquisition, the astounding EDDW 3.0 Scenery by Oliver Pabst... you know, the one with the moving tunnels and trucks

problem:

so, there am i, in my 737-700 with air berlin colours, i line up to park at the all-animated gate, slowly advance towards the marshaler until he tells me to stop...

when i stop, the gate starts lining up and stairs roll towards the rear door pretty amazing indeed...

ok, but then, the first problem... the tunnel and stairs have missed the doors by about 10 feet (i know there's an editing tool to solve this, but that's not my biggest problem as of now...)

put aside the door issue, the main problem is that when i have the plane parked at the gate i cannot get by any means the fuel and catering trucks to come up

the floating sign reads "boarding", and maybe i'm not getting it right, but i think the manual said it should change to "wait for fuel" at this point...

i have the radios tuned as the manual says... but i think i'm still missing something....


could anyone give me a walkthrough on how to work this magnificent scenery

ok... i got it all figured out now...

the reason i wasn't getting the trucks was that i had set the dynamic scenery slider too low... plus, i had tuned the wrong NAV radio duh...



this scenery is F***ING AMAZING!!!!!!  :o

One can't help but ask himself why, oh why has M$ never took as an example the work done by others. Others who, in this case at least, but not unlike many others cases, does it for free too, while they want to be paid for every and any good or bad step taken. :-/

You're right Moach, it's stunning, isn't it?! Just love the whole 'airport experience' from touchdown you evn have to wait for a 'follow me' car, etc.

One piece of advise for all users is the usual, 'Read the Manual'. You'll find that not only do some comands need the correct freq in the Nav2 radio but you need to activate them by setting another freq in the Com1 as well.

Judging by the brief preview of the new 'FSX' due next year, the new MSFS will have some of these features. Can't imagine that thay'd be as good as this though, wouldn't it be great to have this sort of active scenery properly built in with it activated by a press of a button on the panel? Would be esspecialy good in a busy hub like Heathrow or Chicago.

I'd hate to see what kind of requirements FS X is going to have in order run it at its highest settings though. I think it may be time to get a job so I can get a really good computer.

If you're talking about the thread on this very forum, I wouldn't make too many assumptions about its truthfullness. Mind, I'm not rising doubts about the bona fide of the author of the thread, but have a LOT of doubts about his sources.

Yes, FS10 will have better graphics than FS9, no doubt about that. But what will be new and what will be leftovers from FS9 it's still all to be seen. Let's all remember that the graphic leap from FS8 to FS9 was so small to be almost non-existent.

This not counting that if really to use FS10 the installation of Windows Vista ONLY is mandatory, I'll remain with FS9 for a long while still.

Remember what ufficial sources said, some time ago. FS10 (or FSX, as you prefer) is scheduled to be out next fall. You (or I, for that matter) have all the time in the world to upgrade, IMO.

I downloaded it yesterday and I was astounded. Praise be to the buys who made it.
If freeware designers can make this, what on earth is wrong with Microsoft? When you look at that addon and think if that was in every airport in 2004 it would be a real signifcant improvement over 2002 and yet such a simple (for Microsoft) thing and they didn't do it.
