Upgrading to FS9

If I come into some money this Christmas  (if anyone's feeling generous, I accept cheques but prefer cash  ;)  )  I may well consider upgrding to fs2004,  however I have to questions:

1.  Can I use the AI flightplans I have already downloaded for 2k2 in 2k4 as well - (I mean, is there a way to transfer them)

2  Will i be able to transfer aircraft liveries into fs9,  and if so,  will the quality be up to 2004's standard?

I also have some scenery etc  but not so much that I can't just download new stuff for 2k4.

Thanks v. much.

I dont know about the first one. As for the second, as long as the model is compatible with FS9, the textures should work as long as they are used with the same model.

Your AI flightplans and TTools should work without problem in FS9, mine transferred over without any difficulty.

Thanks for that,  the vast majority of my flying is IFR in the commercial jets,  is fs9 significantly superior to 2k2 in that regard (i.e. superiror enough to justify spending

Providing you can handle the game update anyday. Never looked back to my 2002 version, even though I admit I was disappointed at the effort or lack of it they put into it.

If you like commecial jets, like I do, then GET FS9!! Yes, the default package is nothing special but the freeware stuff is superb and alot are in GMAX (whatever that is!) and won't work in FS8 (2002).

BTW, if you're looking to get a copy, may I suggest a second hand one from Ebay or similar? So long as it's a genuine copy there's no difference with CD software between new or used and the prices after Xmas will be much lower than the new price.

Why does cheesecloth hate you, elite marksman? I'm intrigued...

It is like comparining noon to midnight A huge differance .
One of the biggest things Ilike about FS9 is the way it displays clouds A huge improvement to the sheet like method that FS2002 used..
I for one used none of the aircraft for fs2002 on fs2004.
The aircraft made for fs2004 are alot better in more ways than one.
As  for AI aircraft I use PAI (Project AI)
The aircraft ther are frame rate friendly. 8)

Just got FS9 for christmas. Now I have to go sorting through my addons to see what is compatible. At least theres a lot more stuff for FS9.

Rootbeer, cheesecloth hates be because it is used on targets and firing ranges, and up to 1750m I always hit some part of the target. 1500 and below its normally in a radius about the size of an average cantelope.

Haven't been vectored into a mountain yet, come across a badly mucked up ILS runway though and a few gaint craters. ::) ;D

I was flying IFR to some controlled airport in Iceland in really bad weather. Ceileing was around 800ft and the cloud layer went up to 4000. Some stupid controller in Ireland was giving me vectors to land at the airport. I was low on gas so I decided to follow along and take over manually once I broke through the clouds. I the tell me to decend to 5000', then 3000', then I'm told to switch to the tower. When I switch to the tower they tell me that I'm 5 miles out and since theres no ILS they ask me to confirm visual on the runway. Keep in mind that the damn airport is surrounded by mountains and I still have 2200' between me and open air.  Knowing that I have a shorter than ideal runway I decide to decend below the cloud layer and make a very flat approach. As I start to decend I get another vector telling me to turn to a new heading, which I ignored. Fortunatly the mountains are low enough that I dont hit them, but unfortunatly as soon as I clear the clouds I see that I'm less than half a mile from the threshold. I also notice a little spec moving on the runway as my Wright -3350s cut out and I hear the tower say "893 Go around." Wish I could have taken a picture, I missed that 208B by about 5 feet. The next day after the weather cleared, I took off and saw that had I followed that last vector I would have lost half my plane.
