To Cache or not to Cache?

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to everyone. All the best in the New Year.. ;D

Now, i've got a question about cacheing add-on scenery. Does having all the add-on scenery checked off (running) affect the performance of FS9? I was wondering if it's better to uncheck the scenery I don't usually use. Can someone as well explain what "clear cache on exit" actually does and would doing that affect FS9 performance as well?. Thanking you all in advance...Clipper  :)

This was asked not so long ago. The general feeling was that if you're not in the area that the scenery is set in it's not running, therefore, turning on or off would not make any difference. The only way it would would be if the entire world's surface was constantly running in the back ground. I don't think any of our PC's could cope with that!

if you just notice the difference in FS from flying in an addon area or a regular one, you'll see that FS does not load scenery in which you can't see....

also, since everytime you hit "go to airport" FS goes through that loading screen, i think it's safe to say that unoaded scenery has no effect whatsoever in you general performance ;)

Moach, with a massive hangover ::)
