mj 744....again

Postby lim » Wed Dec 21, 2005 9:37 am

hey guys and gals...long time since I was here.

Last time, I questioned about Melvin Rafi's MJ 747-400's rudder effectiveness while taxiing. It seemed to sway way too much..and guess what..after comparing the aircraft cfg file with his project opensky's 747, i found the solution.

Well, now i have another problem. Using autopilot, the aircraft seems to bank too much. for a change in 10 degress in heading, the autopilot will bank the aircraft to about 10 degress. when changing the heading by 30 degrees, the aircraft can even be nearly parallel to the ground!   ???
Is it the aircraft cfg file at fault? I mean...look...his 777 doesn't have such problems!

Have a look in the aircraft.cfg file. Under the autopilot section, you should see a line starting 'Max Bank'. The number after this should change the max bank angle. I suspect it's set to 0 at the mo which is why the AC want's act like a fighter!

hey simmond...i can't find the 'max bank' in the aircraft cfg file.
This is only what's under the autopilot

[autopilot]
autopilot_available             = 1
flight_director_available       = 1
default_vertical_speed          = 1500.0
autothrottle_available          = 1
autothrottle_arming_required    = 1
autothrottle_max_rpm            = 90
autothrottle_takeoff_ga         = 1
pitch_takeoff_ga                = 8;

Hey lim,

Try sticking these lines under the [autopilot] section :

max_bank=25.0
max_bank_acceleration=1.8
max_bank_velocity=3.00

They're from the default MS 747, but obviously you can tweak them to your personal taste. :)

Hope that helps.

Happy flying,
Carl
