99% of the shots here are just from spot view.  However, with the use of a program called F1view, you can move the eye position in the Virtual Cockpit with relative ease.  This is only really useful, however, on aircraft that come with a VC that includes the fully modeled plane. (see Kirk Olsson's F-16).

Also, you can move the eyepoint without the program, but I still find it easier to use F1view.  I'm sure somebody will post a link after me.

You can also use the PAN options to allow you to move freely about the outside of the aircraft.Just set the right_pan left_pan up_pan Down_pan options in your assignments using a hat switch if your joystick has one or use the arrows and the CRTL function as I do. This allows you to move all around the outside of the plane while in spot view. 8)

How these people get these cool shots is by using the spot view and the + or - keys. If you press shift and then + or - you will get it in minute stages which really helps get it just right.  8)

Would the F1 view tool be in utilities?
