Downloading mesh

Hi all
I am in the process of trying to install some scenery upgrades using  the srtm terrain Mesh files.  I am having problems installing the files.  I have been able to install other scenery in the past using the add scenery  function in FS9.  For some reason I can not get these files to show up and work.  I have tried everything I can think of and still nothing.  I have created seperate folders, tried dropping the file in the scenery folder under Addon scenery.  I even tried creating a new folder in the main scenery file.  No luck with any of it.  If any one out there has had this problem or knows of a way to fix it I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.
                                           Thanks  Kepp
P.S.  I read the tutorial and thought I was doing it correctly but I must be missing something !!
 ???

What you need to do is to make a folder I put the folder in the add on scenery folder give it a meaningful name then make a sub folder within the folder you just made called scenery put all of the bgl files in this folder if ther are textures for this scenery make another folder called textures and put them in it.
Once all of the bgl files ar in the folder you can start fs9 and go to the scenery menu and add the scenery.
ALL SCENERY FILES HAVE TO BE IN A FOLDER NAMED SCENERY.
What i did was to make a folder called MESH-FILES in the adonscenery folder then made a scenery folder with in it and put all of my mesh files in it.
By doing it this way when ever I add new mesh files FS will load the new scenery without me having to do it the manual way. 8)
If you nedd further help let me know

....Yes that is the way to do it BUT I personally make seperate folders within the main scenery folder each with it's own area name ( eg SRTM Scotland etc etc) that way I can keep track of the ones I have...as gary said....within each of these named folders I make a new folder called scenery to hold the downloaded .bgl file and then add it in the Flight sim.as usual.

Put them all in one folder if you wish like gary. it does save you adding each time as you already have the path from when you did the first one.......

Each to his own..there are always more than one way to skin a cat........commoner ;D

Not sure what they do - I'm sure I have scenery without them.

It's possible to activate scenery from any location on any drive (even a remote drive) on your PC so where you put the files is not important. The Addon Scenery folder is a convenient place to keep it & it's easy to find. What is important is that the files are configured correctly. For mesh to display properly you might need to experiment with the Priority in the Scenery Library. Most addon scenery is arranged above the default scenery on the Scenery Library menu but I've been told that some Landclass type scenery works best if arranged below some of the default layers. I would have thought that this would be explained in the instructions with the scenery. If not, it should be.

My advice is to delete Scenery.dat files if you find any in a download as these will refer to the author's own system which might be completely different to yours. New DAT files for your own system will be automatically created once the scenery is activated.
