I got my new graphic card and now can use directx9, which makes it possible for me to see the reflective water now! really nice, but what seems strange to me is that the water is always moving in a cyclical way; its sharp and then gets unsharp to get sharp again etc...its hard to explain and I wish I could show this in a video!
even when I pause the simulation, this effect continues.
So is it just me or is this supposed to be like this?
merci!

I know what you mean...there is no work around this I beleive...if perhaps you are willing, try giving my water a go...search for "Ashar" at the Avsim File Library...it's called "new_water_effects.zip" (minus quotes)....
Cheers,
Ashar

I also got oceansfx and oceanstx from Avsim. They look amazing, the textures change acording to local weather conditions. No wind, small waves, hurricane, big waves ect.

Silver Wings [available here at the V] has pretty amazing and realistic water effects. The water goes so well with the scenery in any day through any weather.

Bill Lyons posted a list of files to remove from the texture folder to make the bump map dissapear, so its just crystal water....like FS2002, but sometimes I prefer to have the bump mapping...might as well have it, since it taxes the system anyway!

To have simple crystal reflectings waters you have not to delete any file. It suffices that you go in Settings/Display and deal the water effect cursor on Low or even None (on Low there ia a texture animation of water but no bump mapping, while on None there's not even the texture animation).
