Scenery & Display options

ok, I have looked EVERYWHERE for an answer to this question:

Why can't I change the level of dynamic scenery, the ammount of detail in the game and why oh why is there nothing on the internet explaining why!  :'(

All I can see is crappy landscapes and very poor runways. The realistic effects are also un changeable (you know the options to make the aircraft actually behave like a real one, with the stress and all...)

ALSO: I cannot display any other weather other than FAIR... it just, well, crashes out of the game...

Please help me, I'm in a jam as I am an aspiring pilot just trying to add realism to the game!!!

thanks for any help you can give me!

(P.S. I have a Radeon 9550, 1 Gb Ram, 60+Gb free HD space, an AMD Athlon 2200+ CPU.... I don't think it's hardware that's the issue, as I can play DOOM 3 for god's sake :)

There is only a preset amount of dynamic scenery available. What you need to do is look for add-ons with more dynamic stuff in (it'll tell you in the bumf about the download) as a lot of v.clever people have created stuff for us lucky bunnies.
Your system sounds really good so I don't think there can be any problem there. Could you upload some screenshots for us to look at and maybe someone can help a bit more ;)

I had this happen to me once, after I installed (of all things) a plane... FS got very crashy, scenery wouldn't load, or would load in the wrong place, ground textures wouldn't load, etc... I don't remember if trying to change the weather crashed me or not.

For me, a simple reinstallation fixed it. Might work for you, I don't know.

If not... I don't know, your hardware is indeed fine for FS9, so far as I can tell.

Open the FS9 settings, browse to the display section, click on the hardware tab: is your graphic card name showing in the Device name field?

:o :o :o definately not good...

try a reinstall, maybe there are missing textures or some addon may be causing all this erratic behaviour ;)
