Drop in FPS approaching destination after 2-3 hours flight

I have made some searches on the web and it seems I am not the only one with this problem but it also seems that nobody has a solution for this see ( copy and paste it )

http://forums.simradar.com/forum/_C5/Mi ... wn_P34567/

Here is my system specs:

Intel Pentium 4 3216MHz
Display Card NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra
Memory 2048MB
Operating System Microsoft Windows XP
Free Disk Space 58.37GB
Display Card Memory 256MB
Display Driver Version 6.7.0.2
DirectX Version 9.0c
Optical Drive CD/DVD
Sound Card SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [A000]

FS2004 update downloaded

See my game advisor rating

Here is my problem , I will achieve 30 FPS (locked) online through my whole flight doesnt matter about the amount of traffick or clouds when approaching my destination ussualy after about 2 or 3 hours of flying online my FPS drops to about 4 - 8FPS. At his stage my PC is not overheating etc. I have landed at some airports closed FS 2004 reconnected and immediately achieved my 30 FPS (locked).

I have closed all unncessary programs running in the background no anti virruses running , no virrusses present on my PC have done scans.

So basically I have a macig time online just for my whole experience to be spoiled when landing or when I have been online for a long time.

Any ideas please

I think it comes down to free system resources, for 2 hours the computers been working hard to run it smoothly, then you approach an airport/city which requires lots more of those resources which arn't available.

1/ Have you done a scan for spyware, somethimes they can effect the system. Try spybot or Ad-Aware they are both good and FREE.

2/ Another possiblity is your system is overheating. Have you checked inside the case for dust and the fan is running OK. If you live in an area where there is a lot of dust around you can sometimes have to clean your computer every few months. buy a can of compressed air to get into all the little nooks and cranny's.

But if you are running full detail you will definitly get a sharp drop in framerate if you enter a city with lots of buildings around.

With the specs you specified it should definitly be a lot better than that though.

Press Alt+Ctrl+Del and see how many serices are running, the average is about 45-50 check it at the start and then when it slows down check it again.

hope it helps.

This post will wrangle some folks who love their add-ons, but info and experiences need to be shared on forums.. right ?

My online flying buddies and I have noticed an odd phenom... After long flights or flying sessions, we get that same, weird lagging. After trial and error.. we "think" we've nailed it down.

Active Sky was the only variable, that once removed, eliminated the problem. Maybe all that smooth transitioning and prettier weather (clouds, mostly) and all the files, bit-maps and data that it has to reference.. read and re-write loads up after a while.. You know that RAM can get fragmented much like a hard-drive..

Just sharing what we've experienced.. Don't flame me all you Active Sky fans   ::)
