turbofan engine sounds & spool-up time

Hey, folks -

I have downloaded and installed (via a very convenient install.exe program - Thank You!) the POSKY/Vlatko Aer Lingus A330-200 package found on page 137 of "civil jets".  I am rather pleased with the model and am most impressed with the sounds of the GE CF6 turbofan engines - especially during start-up and take-off.  They are far more realistic than the rather generic FS9 default sounds - including some of the sub-frequencies associated with certain rpms.  Anyway, 1) can I transfer the same engine sound files/scheme to other aircraft? If so, how?  2) the only other real issue I have with this model is that it takes forever to get up to Vr - I usually have to go full-throttle (107% N1 - not good) with full brakes to even get to Vr speed before running out of runway at most large airports.  Is there a way to tweak the aircraft.cfg file to get the aircraft to get to speed faster and/or reduce the spool-up delay time of the engines (which, I believe, are not quite acurate on this model)?  No offense to the designer - I wouldn't be wasting my time posting this if I thought it was a lousy model...Thanks...

the first one I can help. Go to the plane you want to give the new sound to, open the sound folder and then open up the sound.cfg file using note pad. You will see this:

[fltsim]
alias=B737_400\sound
Now just change the aircraft you are going to alias to like this:

[fltsim]
alias=POSKY/Vlatko Aer Lingus A330-200 \sound

Make sure you use to correct folder name instead of the name I gave you.

As for the second problem make sure you trim the aircraft before take off

Why not just copy the sound folder from the AC you like to another AC? Works for me when i've downloaded sound packs. Simply rename the sound folder you are going to replace first as a backup just in case you want to change back, ie change sound to sound.backup or sound.1, etc, etc.

Re take off speed, have you looked at whether you are fully loaded in the main fuel/payload menu? You may find you are heavy by default.

probem with the poskya330 is the load setup. the load is to much and the cg is not on its place. its should near the tail area :)...

You can do that, but it just eats up disk space

Thank you all for the useful information and insight.  As far as the sound scheme, I very simply aliased the desired AC sound.cfg to the Aer Lingus A330 and it worked perfectly (Thx, loomex).

As far as the difficulty taking off, part of the problem is that the engine rpms take forever to spool up (compared to most other models).  I go full throttle but the rpms increase very slowly, meaning I'm not getting all the power I need at the beginning of the take-off roll.  Any thoughts???

Like the others said, it's probably overweight. Check your settings.
