Fatal Error: weather.dll

Hello all...!
It's so frustrating... :'(...!

FS 2004 locking up or crashing back to the desktop with the report: "Fatal error....Weather.dll".... >:(...!

This happens whenever I swop between full screen and windowed mode....
..also whenever I drop the program temporarily down into the Task Bar, and then try to bring it back again to the main screen...the result is a black screen with the program locked in an endless loop in the background!
I have to close the program down via Ctrl+Alt+Del.

I have had a search on Google for "FS2004. Weather.dll. Fatal Error", and there are lots of reports of this error on various Forums, it appears to be a common fault, but no-one has yet suggested a cure...!

I have re-installed FS 2005, re-installed free version of FSUIPC, and re-installed my graphics card drivers with the original CD version, (same fault with the latest drivers), whatever you suggest...I've done it...;)...!

Any ideas, Lads...?

Paul....Frustration is my middle name... ;)...!

P.S. Sometimes a similar report pops up: Fatal Error. panel.dll..... ::)...!!

Hi Mark...!
I've got "Weather Maker" sat on my desktop, but I don't actually "run" it.....
So I'm assuming it wont affect FS 2004 unless I do....?
Suggest I un-install it...?

Cheers Mate...!

Paul...A bit "Under the weather, at the mo'..."...LOL...!

Hi Fozzer, I hope you arent heading down my road.  That weather.dll was the first crash that started my downhill spiral.  Numerous flights ended with total lockup and crash and that same message.  After that, I started getting all kinds of Dll crashes such as terrain, ATC, and many more.  After completely cleaning everything off my system related to FS, things have fianlly settled down.  I have only had two crashes since then in about 30 hours of flying, and both were terrain.dll errors.  I never did find out what started the initial sequence of error messsages though.  Todd

Hi Paul.

Looks like FS9 isn't as stable as good ol' FS2002!  ;)

I've had trouble recently with fe.dll - don't know why. All sorts of cleanups and reinstalls later - it still does it occasionally, but not like it used to.

Paul matey - are you using real weather, a weather theme or customised weather? Whichever one, try changing it.

If using real weather switch to a theme (try clear skies for starters), resave your default flight and restart the sim.

See if it's retained the theme and give it a go and see what happens.

BTW, are you sure you're not using real weather without a connection to the Internet as  .....ahem ...... you haven't got an inexpensive PlusNet DSL connection as I recall...)  ;)

oh s*d it - forgot you can see my username

Hi Roger... ;D...!

You could be on the right track there... ;)...!
After tinkling with the various weather settings, I do often get un-predictable results, often not what I expect...!

The Weather options in FS 20054 do seem rather unstable for some reason...FS 2002 was OK...!

I note your advice regards on-line Real Weather...
The program often gets confused when I leave the Real Weather Option and go back to Custom Settings again...!
The Real Weather settings often remain...!!!

I will have a peek around the different settings again and see what 'appens... ;)...!

Lots of folk seem to have problems with these troublesome xxx.dll's in FS 2004, according to the different Forums... :'(...!

Cheers lads...!

Thanks for the suggestions...!
