Requested flight file corrupted

The last few times I opened FS2004 I get the message: The requested flight file is corrupt or can't be found. Flight Simulation will now try to load the default flight.
If I say ok, the game starts with a Seatle airport, which I try to change to one I am used to and set it as the default - which used to work before. For some reason that is not clear to me, the game cannot find this default airport the next time it opens.
Any ideas?

Hi, Cessna. This is a very common problem. So common in fact, it's actually in the FS2004 FAQs. Here's the link given for the question "How do I change the default flight?"

I suspect the most likely cause of this problem is that you removed something connected with the flight at some time after saving it as the default flight. This could be 3rd party scenery but is more likely to be the Player aircraft.

I have been downloading some new aircraft lately, and if the downloads didn't work I have been deleting them from the aircraft file.

The easiest way over it would be to set up another flight & make that your default flight.
