I lost KSTL airport . . . help!
Posted: Sat Nov 19, 2005 11:25 amI don't know how it happened but it did. All I really know is this: I was flying VATSIM out of KDFW flying a flight plan to KSTL. Enroute Memphis Center told me that KSTL was bleak in visibility conditions. I thought "no problem" I can handle that. As I approached KSTL looking for bleak conditions I did not see anything of the airport - even when my GPS was showing it and I was about to fly right past it. I immediately declared MSA and headed out with my tail between my legs thinking "How is it possible that I could not see the rwy lights or the airport at all!?"
A few days later under perfect VFR conditions I filed a flight plan out of KORD to KSTL. I was told that conditions at KSTL were clear and should not have any problems VFR. That's not what the following photos show:
Gee - I can't even get the images here to show you what I mean. I got a successful upload page of the pics I wanted to display. I clicked on the INSERT IMAGE icon while typing this post. I changed the name of the "yourpic.jpg" to the name of the one I uploaded and I get nothing.
The whole point is that KSTL is not there in my scenery and I don't know why. I have not checked the tens of thousands of airports that FS2004 has for us to fly to/from. All I know is that KSTL is not there and I would like to know how to get it back without losing the years of scenery modifications that I have been doing to enhance the flight sim experience. I know .... I know thing(s) to do are:
1) Don't fly to KSTL
2) Check ALL the airports that FS2004 has and see if the problem exists somewhere else.
3) Guess where the airport should be.
4) Land using the GPS and be happy that the GPS showed the airport there.
But I would rather have a more feasible and sensible way to fix this problem. Thanks so much for your immediate replies :)
