Re-sizing instrument panels...

Postby Fozzer » Thu Nov 17, 2005 7:03 am

Hello Lads... ;D...!

As we all know, it is possible to re-size the instrument panels on some?/all? of the default aircraft...
The screen is made up of two panels; the "outside" window, and the "panel" window, both of which can be dragged and re-sized with the mouse.
This makes it useful to reduce the height of the panel window to obtain a better view outside...
(Saves constantly raising the seat, (Shift+Return), after swopping views).
...and drag the "outside" window down to close the gap.

The panel designers don't seen to program this effect in the third-party aircraft....?

Is this effect difficult to obtain in the design...?

Cheers all...!

Paul....ever curious... ;)...!

Depends on the design of the panel Paul. I notice that many of the default panels still use the old FS98 2D setup with the panel itself covering the lower part of the screen. Although this can vary depending on the type of aircraft they're for, most 3rd party panels I've tried over the last few years have been 3D style with a single full screen sized (for example 1024x768 ) background BMP including the transparent windscreen. This type of panel was first introduced with CFS1 & makes it impossible to resize the actual panel by dragging it as you describe.

PS. If you want a clear "heads up" view try hitting the W key like me. The most realistic option is the DVC if the aircraft has one.
