Default load-up Scenery area...?

Hello lads... ;D...!

...after 6 years of loading up various versions of Uncle Bill's Flight Sims...
I've never yet found out how to get the program to automatically default to the area of my choice during the  boot-up procedure of the program...rather than the default "Seattle-Tacoma"  :o...!

It's possible to set a particular flight which can be accessed via "Select Flight" AFTER the program has loaded...
...but...
What I am after is the program to default to my selected area "automatically" during the program boot-up of FS 2004...to save me fartin' about with selecting my area later on... ;)...!
(I can't be arsed with fartin' about later)...LOL...!

..any ideas, lads..?

Paul... 8)...!

Hi Paul. This is so simple I'm surprised you've never figured it out. From Create a Flight, set up a flight anywhere you wish, any aircraft, airport, time, weather etc. Then save the flight under an appropriate name & check the "Make this the default flight" box before clicking OK. Now this flight will be your default flight every time you fire up FS9 or any other version of FS. You can also save a flight at any time you wish & set that as the default flight in the same way.

...not sure that's quite what Paul means Hagar...I THINK he want's to be at the "starting point" of his flight instead of "fartin' an' arsin. about on the other screens after boot up...........could be wrong.....commoner ;)

If that is so then in the Start Up section of Fs9.cfg change...SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1 to SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=0  I have mine like this and after the Splash screen I go straight to the start of my default flight at Doncaster........not an arse in sight......commoner

Commoner this will put him at his default airport in his default aircraft of choice everytime. I think this is what Paul wants ;)

Yeah, but he doesn't want it to be at Seattle Tacoma....

So he needs as Doug said to save the aircraft of his choice (eg Cessna 150) at the airport of his choice (eg Half Moon Bay) at the time of year and time of day of his choice, as his default flight.

To do that he needs to do what Doug said.

Cmon, don't make it too complicated - he's only an old fart after all

;D ;D...better wait for the old "f**t" to come and decide then.....maybe he wants both....save a default flight and then go straight to it from boot up..........commoner..........

Good job we all know and love the boy...... ;).

Exactly. That's the impression I got from Paul's question. If you want FS9 to start the flight automatically without having to click Fly Now then by all means do what Commoner suggested but you will have to set the default flight first or you will still end up at Seattle. I much prefer to leave the start screen myself & they made a bad mistake in not having one in FS2000. IMHO

You can save a flight at any time you wish from Flights/Save Flight on the FS9 menu bar & save as many flights or situations as you like. I often take advantage of this when testing/setting up my own or other people's aircraft/scenery as it saves a lot of messing about.

LOL :D

I can understand people experiencing problems with default flights involving 3rd party aircraft or scenery. This is not caused by a bug with FS & is only likely to happen if these 3rd party files are not installed correctly, have some sort of bug or have been deleted without changing the default flight first. The same thing applies to any mods to the default aircraft or scenery & could not be described as a bug with FS.

Who's that curly headed kid in the front row with the wild imagination then...... :o

Ah the glitch. What many people find including me is that you set your new flight up and save it ticking the 'save as default flight' box, but when you restart the sim, it still goes back to the old default flight. So you then go back to 'select saved flight' and sure enough your new 'default' flight is there, but the 'default flight' box is unticked.

So you select that flight and agin tick the 'edfault flight' box and next time it will work exactly right.

It's quite common (yeah OK - now you'll all say it's never happened to you I know - and I won't say what my next 2 words will then be..  ;) )

Not before Paul's had is nose between em I hope - she is gradually working her way through the whole male population of the UK and she'll get round to him sometime.

Wouldn't be so bad if it was during I spose because at least then he'd go out with a bang   :D
