FS9 crashes

Postby VF103_Moo » Sun Oct 23, 2005 8:46 pm

fs9 started crashing after the splash screen on friday, so i uninstalled and turned off my puter. i reinstalled today and let the scenery indexing do its thing, but it keeps crashing after the splash screen, i tried microsoft, but they're too cheap to keep fs2004 help online. so that brings me here. whats going on?

i enjoy long walks on the beach, yummie thai food, and obliterating my enemy's aircraft around them with a hail of bullets from 12 .50s. and/or a 75mm cannon.

When you uninstall, you need to go into the FS9 folder and manually delete a few files.  Make 100% sure that it's clean.

Your best bet? You need to delete all of your saved flights.  I can never remember where they are (they're not in FS9 folders), check the FAQs at the top of the fs2004 forum ;)

Twice my deleting of my most recently saved flights had fixed the splash-screen freeze-up problem.

Don't forget about deleting the fs9.cfg file. Read the FAQ for info regarding how to find it.

When was the last time you defragged your HD ?? If that's not the problem I'd suggest you review everything you've done recently in terms of installs and uninstalls (besides FS9). Another thing -- have you had anything unusual occur recently while on the internet ?

There are endless possibilities.
