FS9 Process won't shut down

Postby Rocket_Bird » Wed Oct 26, 2005 12:38 am

This has been a minor irritable problem for the last little bit.  It seems that when I shut down my flight simulator, the process doesnt go away and I have to alt control delete to shut it down manually.

At first the problem originated from using Active Camera 2004, as it was mainly due to a conflict for Windows XP SP2, but I fixed it by using one of their patches.

After that I've installed a number of aircraft and addons.  And the one program that started making it do that again was Vatsim.  So I figure there might be some conflict between VATSIM's squawkbox and SP2?

Really this is a minor issue, but has anyone else had this problem and able to fix it?
Cheers,
RB

I had that SAME problem before I upgraded to XP service pack II.  When I first discovered it... I might have had three or four "versions" of fs9.exe running in the "processes" list......each consuming resources.

The change to SPII is the only thing that I changed when it suddenly stopped happening.  So that may or may not have been involved.

Or maybe it was just the little people that live in the white box on my desk screwing around  ;).

best,

I also have a similar, annoying problem with FS 2004.

When I close the program from the menu, or the "x", the program comes up with the MS error report window, stating: Error,"weather.dll", (or sometimes "panel.dll"...)..."Send this report to Microsoft...etc..." :'(...!
The program will then automatically close and re-start if the "start box" is ticked in the error report window.
The program rarely shuts down properly... >:(...!
...even after re-installs...
...any ideas...?

The annoying minor problem of having to manually terminate the FS9 ghost process began happening to me after I installed the FS9 patch by M$. Before then it never happened, to my memory. Since then, no matter if I use the no-cd or the original diskette-driven Fs9.exe, the shut down leaves behind the hated ghost process.

Having found no solution, I've pretty much resigned to have to call the task manager after a session in FS9.
