Default terrain mesh problems

Here's a problem that's bugging me no end...

For extended periods of time I have no problem, then something happens, and the default terrain mesh seems to flatten itself. For example, Hobart, Tasmania (my home airport), used to look great, but for some totally unknown reason, the hills have all flattened to mere little bumps, Mt. Wellington turned into an ugly, gradual slope... Its as if the terrain mesh setting was turned into minus 50 (if it were possible) or something. I can change the terrain mesh setting in FlightSim and there is absolutely no change.

What did I do? did I muck up some scenery file somewhere, trigger some wierd setting?  ???

There are no obvious solutions to me, I've been adding add-on scenery, but I haven't touched the graphics card or anything, so I don't know what triggered the problem.

Help is greatly appreciated!

It's probably best to download custom terrain mesh.

1) It's more accurate
2) It will probably fix any problems with the default terrain mesh. (but don't quote me on that :P)

Otherwise I wouldn't know what to do with it.

Is this happening any where you fly ? or just in one area.
If it is only one area than you somewhow managed to change that area with a addon scenery or smething else.
I am not sure if you can get the default terrain off of one of the orignal disks or not but it is certainly worth looking into otherwise you may have to reinstall FS

Thanks you two,

The problem is everywhere, Hawaii, Seattle, British Columbia, you name it.

The terrain mesh slider seems to have absolutely no impact (except on the frame rate...),

I think a re-install is in order,

Thanks
