Is it possible to fly a high alpha maneuver in FS9? i.e. flying with a high angle of attack, without gaining/losing no altitude (that's the best way I can describe it )

Here's what I mean..

Yep But what are you trying to say, it can or can't be done?!

It probably could be done but you'd have to get your speed and angle of attack just right.

It can be done in the right aeroplane... I've only really tried it in the Aerialfoundry F-18...

Well, yes. I wouldn't go about trying it in a Cessna 172 It's one of them maneuvers that just looks really good when you get it right. I've seen it done with jet fighters, and seen it done with airliners, mostly jets, otherwise only aerobatic aircraft.

Are you talking about low speed flight? Done that a lot in a Cessna 152. Instructor made me practice, practice and practice some more until I could fly straight and level and make shallow turns just above stall speed without thinking about it. Hated him at the time but the skills you develop are essential in other applications.

If anybody caught my entry in the Aerial Manuevers contest, I was pulling one of those in a F-18  ;)

Instructor made me practice, practice and practice some more until I could fly straight and level and make shallow turns just above stall speed without thinking about it. Hated him at the time but the skills you develop are essential in other applications.

Yes, low speed flight, but with a high AoA.

I think I'll have to just practice it, in an F-16 or something.

It IS possible, but it's hard.
Try the DSB F-20, thats my favorite for that stunt.

Yeah, I've pulled a Cobra with one of the SU-27s that's available. It becomes a little unstable though, stalls a little too easily
