while in pushback from the gate is there anyway to turm the direction you are going?

shift + p + 1 or shift + p + 2..

Just like the open door command..

You don't have to hit the 1 or 2 immediately... as long as you don't hit any other keys after hitting shift+p you can steer the aircraft in either direction.

...just a comment,,,be prepared to WAIT a second or two for it to happen .......not like turning the steering wheel on a car.........

I have been reading these past few posts on pushbacks and I can't for the life of me get it to work. I don't want gauges on my work desk for it.......I just want it to work. VERY FRUSTERATING.

...BTW..just a comment here re the 737 Eperience pushback. I contacted Moach and he says that turning on pushback  only works "sometimes"...and even he has no idea why that is..........thought I`d just mention it for those who have been frustrated by this.........commoner

This problem is usually caused by an addon gauge (or even XML-code in an aircraft model) that continuously gives "events" (commands), which interfere with multi-keystroke commands in FS.
If such an event is given between the two keystrokes (like between "Shift-P" and "1" for Pushback-Left), FS ignores the modifier command (= the second keystroke).
Note: This is also why you cannot change e.g. the View-mode between the two keystrokes.

This applies to all such multi-keystroke commands, like:
- Pushback (Shift-P, followed by a "1"or "2" to turn)
 Causing the aircraft not to turn during pushback.
- Select Engine ("E", followed by the engine number(s) )
 Causing the aircraft to lose trottle control over engine2,3,4.
 Example: after (accidentally) giving the "E" command, Engine-1 is selected.
 If you have a combined throttle lever for all throttles, only throttle-1 will react from now on.
 Trying to select all engines/throttles again (via the keysequence "E" "1" "2" "3" "4") will fail.
 The only way to regain controll over all throttles is to reload the aircraft.
- Select Exit ("Shift-E" followed by "2")
 Causing the MainExit to open instead of Exit-2.
- Etc Etc  ......

Now, assigning other keys to "Toggle Pushback", "Select 1" or "Select 2" MAY help (that depends on the gauge/model code that is causing the problem), but it usually doesn't.

It also explain why it works sometimes, and sometimes not (depending how quick you type the keys).
Note that, if you follow the proper procedure as described in a previous post, this problem does NOT occur with any of the default aircraft.

Just to let you know who the previous poster, Rob Barendregt, is (Dave bows his head in awe and respect and intones, "We're not worthy!  We're not worthy!") Seriously though, let me fill you in a little.  He's the author of some really excellent gauges for FS 2004 aircraft panels.  

Rob has made (in my opinion) one of the best freeware FS 2004 gauges available called Groundhandling Gauge for FS2004 aircraft.  This gauge offers taxi speed, landing autobrake, and pushback features to name a few.  The file name for the latest version is RCBgh-40.zip.  I have it assigned to a stand-alone window on all of my aircraft panels.

The pushback feature on this gauge is really easy to use in that you just set how many seconds you want your aircraft to reverse in a straight line, and which way you want the aircraft to turn.  Once you release your parking brakes the gauge performs your pushback for you!  In my opinion this gauge is a must have!

If you experiance the other problems (SelectEngine and SelectExit) caused by the same "continuous event" issue as described above:
