Is it possible to lock the VC zoom rate to a certain value (0.7x or so), and if so, where to change that

Not that I know of...just before I start the engines of the aircraft, I just look around at all the views and press "-". That just sets the eye-point to one. Then I start the engines and all...and proceed as normal 8) ;) ;)

What I do.....in the panel.cfg I set the zoom values to 0.75 for every view.
What also works: start your default flight, manually set zoom in all views to the value you wish and save the flight.
Next time every flight you start will have these zoom values.

I use my TrackIR Pro, and eliminate ALL VC speed problems.
Wherever you turn your head, and whatever speed, that's where the view goes.
This was the BEST upgrade to FS I have ever done, hands down. (Even better than a joystick upgrade which was a VERY close second)  ;D

TrackIR Pro, chocks are now never removed unless mine is fully functional. A must for all simmers.

What I don't get while researching it like I do to all high priced items, is that when you move your head away, the view changes to the direction you want to but you have to keep your eyes aimed at the monitor which does not move.

That's comparing to what I fly in the C172 for private flights.

It isn't the same like if you want to look at the C172 flaps and the mointor doesn't moves with it so you can look at it dead on like you are right now while reading this.

The trick is not to turn your head but to move head sideways or rock from side to side at the hips. That way you are always looking at the monitor and get to see what you actually want to see. Unfortunately TrackIR is easier to use than explain. Also if you just turn your head to view it is possible to control the amount of head movement in comparison to monitor movement i.e. small head movement producing large monitor movement.

I understand what you are saying.
In the provided software though, you can set the difference of movement between how far you head moves, and how much the pilot's head moves in the VC. it sound's complicated, but in all actuality, it is quite natural.
As a matter of fact, right out of the box, it is set up right for what you automatically do now (like in a bank when you tilt you head, you know you do it LOL...We all do whether we notice it or not).
;D
