Postby osvep » Sat Sep 24, 2005 3:00 am

Dear friends: I have a problem but not in houston but in my Pc.A tornado IDS that I download from fsdome does not open the wings but in other pc I have as muletto the same model works perfectly even in both cases I install the aircraft in FS9 although the file indicates for Fs2002.In both it is aliased to the lear45 panel and the display of flaps position and sound is correct.Can anyone
give some clue?Data:in the muletto failing I install other panel first but then I remove and the problem persist.
Also in the muletto is installed two models of tornadosDSB Thanks a lot. osvep :-[

If it is a 2k2 model it probably won't work in FS9, a lot of the animations from 2k2 models don't work in FS9.

Sorry

try setting your flaps to fully down, seems to work for me on any aircraft that has swept back wings (i.e Tornado,Tomcat,Mig23) that should *in theory* open the wings.

Hi osvep..

I downloaded panavia_tornado_ids.zip from fsdome....

when you got that message did you click Yes or No? it makes a difference to whether it works or not.......Now open your fs9.cfg file and find the section like this.....

[FrameCallNoWarn]
Mistral=1
Cessna 152=1
E-3=1
NIMROD=1
Cessna Bobcat=1
TORNADO_IDS-MARINE=1

..if the Tornado is not on the list, then add it to the list exactly as I have.If you have no section like that then make one just for the tornado....

close the fs9.cfg and save thechanges.

Start the sim and select your plane........
These are the keys......

F7 opens the wings half way for one press and fully for the second press

F8 opens the wings fully with one press.

F5 closes the wings fully with one press.

F6 closes the wings half way with the first press then fully with the second press.

If you can't find the fs9.cfg file it is here..

Heya osvep,

There have been some really good suggestions here but I thought to add my own $.02.

On some aircraft you cannot operate the flaps unless the engines are running.  If you start FS 2004 like I do with the aircraft "cold and dark" then be sure to start up everything before trying to operate the Tornado swing wings.

Another thing to check:

Open the folder that you installed the Tornado IDS into with the Windows Explorer.  Next right click on the Aircraft.cfg file.  Left click "Copy."  Now right click anywhere on the screen and select "Paste."  This adds a backup file to your folder called "Copy of Aircraft.cfg"  You can rename this file or not, do whatever you wish.

Next open the original Aircraft.cfg.  Look for this:

[hydraulic_system]
normal_pressure=0.00

Some aircraft will not operate their flaps if there is no hydraulic pressure.  Using a text editor such as Windows Notepad, you may want to make the following change:

[hydraulic_system]
normal_pressure=3000

Save the Aircraft.cfg and exit the Windows Notepad.  Next startup FS 2004 and see if the wings move.

In relation to Mynameisnemo, the gender in the post is listed as male.  Therefore, the photo at the bottom of his signature must be a picture of his girlfriend!  Lucky dog.

Thanks a lot Commoner and Greycat Situation is as follows.Before reading your messages I use a radical way that is I uninstall the failing tornado and install other file downloaded from the site of the author (G Clementi) for the same model and all works well.Now I after searched the FS9.cfg and Aicraft.cfg as you mentioned and found in the fs9 that tornado etc marine=0 but is also other tornado (MRCA) =1 and in aircraft hydraulic pressure =0 . So I guess fs9 cfg is the main in  this case .Anyway I learn a lot ie that there are the critical data of stall speeds  in aircraft.cfg and also I saw a line referred to the reverse thust wich I try to change in a Mirage 4000 from 0 to 1 but with no succes.
Is posible to edit and change parameters as this or the stall speeds or is necesary other changes beyond these
so simple .If you can answer me.Thanks again and specially greycat who help me avoiding a disturbing gender  mistake... regards. :D

Heya osvep,

I'm glad that you could work that problem out.  As for your question about stall speeds please let me point out to you that the stall speed listed in the Aircraft.cfg is like a "ballpark figure."  Factors such as aircraft weight, wind speed, direction, altitude and/or barometric pressure also may "adjust" the stall speed of any aircraft.

As for thrust reversers there are actually 2 different items in the Aircraft.cfg and 1 item in the *.air file which you have to change to enable/disable them.
Happy Flying -- And may your main wheels always touch down first!
