Where Are The Clouds?

I don't get it.  When I have any type of clouds that are visible before takeoff; I see them - that I understand.  But, reaching altitude above these clouds they are gone and we see the terrain; especially overcast settings.  Why is this and how do I get them to be more real as I 've seen in some superb screenshots on this forum; full and puffy looking just like in real life?

Do you have 3d clouds turned on? What video card do you have?

My system is:

Pentium IV 2.4 Ghz/2 Gig Ram/4 x 80 Gig Internal HD's
Video Card: GeoForce 5500 256 Ram
Flight Stick: Microsoft ForceFeedback 2

I know it is not the beefiest machine amoung this flight forum, but surely it can holds its own  :P

You might go in to 'Settings/Display/Weather' and check that it's set to 'Detailed Clouds'?

Thanks, Nav  :D

So many options in this dog gone sim that sometimes the simpliest fixes are overlooked

Good to hear you got your mojo working. FS9 always looks best running in Full-Screen Mode at 1280x1024 or higher, as well.

My FS9 weather/clouds looks pretty much like Microsoft said it would look. My card is an Asus G4Ti4200 (every slider maxed) and makes FS9 look as real as it gets.
