Question on cockpit sounds

Postby MafiaTiger » Sun Sep 25, 2005 8:33 pm

Hi, this is somewhat of a stupid question... is it possible to add the sounds to say the default boeing 737 and have it say the low altitudes (500, 400, 300, 200, 100, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10) Thanks!

I don't think you can without programming a guage to do it. As far as I know the default sound config file doesn't have the capability to handle those events. You might also find a guage that does this if you look around.

Heya MafiaTiger,

No this isn't a stupid question.  MattNW is absolutely correct in that you can substitute a gauge into all of your panels that will do this.

Long, long ago (I can't remember where but I believe that it came with a FS 2000 panel) I found a panel which had a gauge called FPDA_Boeing_Callout.  Soon I had this gauge on all of my aircraft panels.

Check your IM for further information.

I found you guys a guage. It's payware but only $19.95 and it's way more than just a callout guage. It has the full functionality of the real Sandel ST3400 with Terrain Avoidance that actually works in the sim. In fact Reality XP doesn't provide a manual they just give you a link to download the real world manual for the real thing. It'll do callouts from 500 ft Agl. to 10 ft Agl. and give traffic and terrain warnings.

Just purchased it last night and equipped my Dreamfleet Baron 58 with it and I love it. Also check out the SN3805 EHSI. They make a great pair.

MafiaTiger, i don't feel this is a stupid question (few months ago i asked the same question here on simv forums  ;)).

The altitude callout is part of GPWS (Ground Proximity Warning System).

-----> All you have to do is download the GPWS for your aircraft (Boeing, Airbus, Mc donnell or any other) from SimV, avsim etc.

-----> Then add the sounds (which you downloaded) in the sounds folder of FS2004.

-----> You will now need to edit the panel.cfg - editing here means adding just one line at the bottom of "[Window00]" i.e., gaugexx=FPDA_boeing_callout,  169,649,10,9, (here xx is the subsequent guage number)

-----> That's it, you have the GPWS in the plane.

Hence by editing the panel.cfg, you can have the GPWS in any aircraft you want.

Hope i could solved your problem  ???

If not, just read the read-me file provided with the download ;).
