Gauge Problem

Can someone please tell me what the following error message means when trying to load a plane. It only happens with certain gauges no matter which plane they are installed in.

The following message is taken when trying to load the Chinook by Tom Woods and Mark Adams

Flight simulator was unable to load some aircraft or software. You can continue using Flight Simulator but this aircraft or software will be disabled.

File:GAUGES\TrafficRadar.GAU

If I try clicking on the gauge while flying the same message comes up.

My Specs are
Windows 2000 SP4
P4 3.2GHz
1gig ram
128MB Geforce PCX 5750

Heya Grendata,

Generally I've seen this error message when you try to install an aircraft for FS 2002 and use it in FS 2004.

There are also some gauges that won't work without FSUIPC by Peter Dowson.

If you don't have the latest version (v3.5) of FSUIPC you can get it here at SimV:

http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb.cgi?section=misc&file=fsuipc.zip

Or you can download it at Pete's website:

http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/FSUIPC.zip?timestamp=300805

I don't believe that you need to have a registered version of FSUIPC to run a radar gauge like this.

Well I updated to FSUIPC 3.5 and I still get the message, any other ideas anyone?

BTW the planes are designed for FS2004

Also would updating to FS9.1 change anything?

Heya grendata,

To answer your question updating FS 2004 to version 9.1 is always recommended, however, I don't think that this would cure the gauges issue.  I'm a big fan of updating.  By all means upgrade to version 9.1!

It's quite possible that this gauge just won't work.  You can substitute a radar from a different panel.  I highly recommend the excellent traffic radar by Eric Marciano.

If you have any issues then IM me here at SimV and I'll be happy to help.

I am aware that I can just get gauges from other planes but I would still like to work out why everyone else does not seem to have this problem (judging from the lack of posts) and I do.

Would the fact that I am using the No CD patch (can I mention that here?) change anything? I don't like getting CDs in and out of boxes and the drive as they end up getting scratched easily.

Hi grendata,

I don't think it's an issue of your FS9 version or how you access it. This problem didn't arise in FS2002 because Pete Dowson's freeware add-on FSUIPC (which links external gauges to FS, among other things) allowed external gauges like your traffic gauge to access the FS databases so that the traffic was displayed.

With FS9, FSUIPC went payware, except for specific gauges and programs that had a 'key' supplied with them, or that you could get from Pete Dowson's forum. Eric Marciano's F16 traffic gauge has a key posted, so it works fine with FS9 and the unregistered version of FSUIPC. I don't know if there's a key available for your gauge - you'd need to google.

If you want a good alternative that doesn't use FSUIPC at all, the try Lee Hetherington's freeware TCAS2 gauge.

Good luck!

;)

I have a registered version of FSUIPC but the message still comes up.
I might have to upgrade to Windows XP since many new addons (Payware) only seem to work or be supported for XP
