Another One...RTW--Ideas?

Hey everyone! Well, I've been working on a RTW for the past few months and I've made my way around the Pacific Rim, starting from Lupien Airfield in Oak Harbor, Washington (76S) and I've made it to Adelaide, Australia (YPPF). As a matter of fact, I'm making my way back up through the Outback and into Indonesia, and I have everything planned from there on to Cape Town, South Africa. But after that I'm not sure what to do. I'm thinking of going up the west African coast into Europe and make the Atlantic crossing through Iceland and Greenland and then down the North/South American coast down to Antartica--but I don't know many cool places to visit along that route. Any ideas?

Kind of make it up as you go!

I second that.  I've started my own RTW, after finishing my 'round USA.  And I've done 5 legs so far, and made it south to Los Angeles in my Cessna Citation.  As for the east coast of US, try some Washington DC, New York, all of florida, and the bahamas are always fun.

Anyhoo I don't have a set route, I sorta just land when I'm low on fuel, or getting bored.

My advice to you is this:

First, make sure you use real-world weather. This adds to the challenge and makes the trip more fun because the weather is unpredictable and you have to fly through occassional thunderstorms.

Also, if you like, you can fly at night along with the weather. This makes it even more challenging because you then have to rely on the intruments to see how high and oriented you are and becomes even more fun as you run into a thunderstorm.

My weather updates every 15 minutes so that I can keep up-to-date.

However, if you are the kind of person who is a sit-back-and-relax-while-the-autopilot-is-on type of guy, then get ready for extreme boringness.

I'm with katahu...bring in as many real world elements as possible, and do it old school....strictly by the instruments. Experience flight like it was meant to be.

Make it up, and make it as real as possible.
