Auto-brake add on.

Is it possible to add this function to an A/C that never had it? The panel has it installed  and working on other A/C

I assume you mean the brakes come on the minute you hit the deck. The easiest way to do that is turn on the parking brakes on approach ;)

Hi ab469,

I just did that on my simpit aircraft.  Hey... it's MY aircraft.. I can install "aftermarket" equipment.  ;)  Works like a charm.

You can add most any guage to most any aircraft if you know how to do that panel work.  In my case I am turning real knobs on the simpit panel... but it would work the same for a "normal" sim aircraft too.   I needed the guage to be on a panel that was not showing anywhere... because for simpit use the "real" physical panels take the place of the simulated panels.

For personal use only, "steal" the autobrake file from another aircraft that has it.   The file name should be somewhat obvious.  (You can't distribute the panel with "lifted" guage files in it unless you get permission from the original programmer.)

If you can find space on an existing panel... you can just install it there.   Lacking lacking room on a panel, all you have to do is create a new small blank panel and install the autobrake guage into it.  Set it to be hiddin until you pop it up.

Doing this stuff will involve changing the aircraft's panel.cfg file.  Are you comfortable with doing that sort of stuff?  Maybe drop down to the Scenery and Panel design section and check out a few past threads.  You'll find my questiona about this somewhere too.   ;)

best,

.................john

Thanks John you have the same idea as me. The panel is from an a340 that does work on the 340. I dont want to put the parking brake on before landing. I marshalled a fighter into a parking spot one time with both mains on fire. The pilot admitted he had touched down with the parking brake on realized what was wrong and released it. A very expensive repair job. We are trying to modify a Convair 990A that never had the auto brake function. Have looked in the cfg files of A/C that have them, you can find it in the panel cfg but not in the A/C cfg. Where do you find it?

Shift + / (slash)  will deploy the spoilers automatically at touchdown.
