Flight Sim not recognizing video card

I wanted to install flight sim on my other computer down here, with the same GFX card as my other computer, and when I played, I got CRAP FPS!!! I then noticed that fs wasn't recognising my video card. Any ideas??

First off Ben, I think thats illegal. One FS disk on 1 computer.

Maybe altering the CFG and entering your card details there? i

That's illegal? We can own 2 computers and install FS on only one? So saying that, we have to buy to FS2004 copies to fly on both computers? That would be a stupid thing to do unless if you are willing to waste $24 again....
Try modifying your FS9.cfg. In the [display] area, type in the name of your video card after [display_device]...like mine says:
[display_device=Nvidia GeForce 6800GT.0]
and FS works with it...as you know I had my chip uninstalled/ FS9.cfg still read my old chips name but after modifying it it worked fine...

It is not a "waste"... it is what you are supposed to do.

Oh common Ben it's not that big of a deal... it was simply stated what was the law, a rather "technical" one if I may say so myself.  There are bigger (read: better) laws to break than the freakin EULA.  It's very, very common for IT guys to install a program on multiple computers that is licensed only for one.

When you walk outside, brutally kill a homeless person and take the three dimes he had on him, you may use the sad/emberrassed smiley.

I'm confused here...so our school has Photoshop. Every comp in our school has it. There are over 50 comps in our school...so is that illegal or is allowed since it's for educational purposes?  ???

They would probably have a different liscense since they are a school.

I wasn't being a party-pooper I was just reminding Ben of what I agreed to - incase he had forgot.

Now, if anything hurts inthis area listen to my tail of what happened at the beginning of this year.

The computer in my sig had a Ge-Force FX5200 put in taken out from my old computer which had FS on. We had just built it and I couldn't wait to see the sim work on this new monster. So what could I do? Uninstall it on the old and loose all my precious files or see if it would work on the new computer? Well Dad wouldn't let me try it out on the new built computer until it was off the old (not even for ten mintues to see if it would work!). I argued that MS would never mind for ten minutes and then if it worked I'd uninstall it right away on the old computer! It would also be easier to see if I could retrieve all the info to tranfer it if it was on both computers at the same time.

Nope Dad said no. So I go ahead with the uninstall and guess what, the new computer wouldn't take the card because it was causing a bottle neck in the system and caused FS to crash and the graphics were... :-/

I just flipped. Dad had spent hundreds on the components and I new there was none to spare for a new card. So there I was, brand new monster wouldn't take FS and I had uninstalled it and lost all my info on the old computer.  

But not too long after Dad was ever so sweet and (didn't tell Mum - kind Dad ) bought me that one in the sig below. So I guess I have nowt to complain about really.

As I mentioned above...... most software (of the non-game variety) has what are called a "site licence".

Let's say the software in question costs $100 for a single copy.  As a company, you want to purchase the ability to install that same software on 10 computers and have them all on a network accessing common data files located on a server.  The publisher sells you a site licence to run those for........ let's say $650.  A substantial savings over the one-at-a-time price.

Many business softwere packages are hard coded so that if they are run on a network and the SAME copy is installed multiple times without the site licence ....... you cannot set them up to access common data files.
