Sonic booms missing....

Hi @ all!

I have a question to you:
You probably know the North American X-15C rocket. When you reach hypersonic speeds (eg. 1,2 mach) there are no effects (no booms, ...)

Is there any package which contains such effects?

thx

I found a plane on Avsim with sonic boom effects. If you want to see it it, type in cf-220_grizzly_(effects_correction).zip in the File Library search over at Avsim.... ;)

hypersonic,

Hi and welcome to SimV.

I believe that as a pilot of an aircraft breaking the sound barrier.... you don't hear the "boom"....... it is behind you and you are trasveling faster than the sound from it.

This effect is, I think, sort of like the loud grinding noise in the "cockpit" often heard in the commercial AT jets in the sim.

Thx for posting!

I tried this package on a Tupolev TU-144, works well :)

Well J, you also can't hear the flaps, or sometimes not even the landing gear from the cockpit of many modern airliners and they're in there anyway-I guess it's just cool to have the effect over realism.

That is exactly my point.

[quote]Some of the default flaps sounds sound like the aircraft is being ripped apart

Of course you are right  ;)
Hence the "boom" sound should only be audible when you flying in Spotplane or Tower viewmode, and not in Cockpit or VC viewmode.

My CarrierOperationPackage V2.0 contains a SonicBoom gauge that controls a visual and audible effect; and I have a new version of this gauge (not published yet) that indeed controlls  the effects depending on Viewmode  :)
