Where did my gauges go?

Heres the story, I joined AFA virtual airlines and downloaded their aircraft to fly. Their aircraft use a self installer which i hate using. I'd rather put everything in its place myself.

Anyway, one of the aircraft which uses its own panel has no gauges when I load it up. I looked in the files and saw where they were using a Lear 45 setup as the cockpit so I said no problem, I'll just link that plane's panel file to use the regular ole Lear 45 on the system. problem is still, no gauges.

I loaded up the default Lear 45 and it too now has no gauges where it did before. Did this self installer delete the gauges? How do I get them back?

Who knows what other planes may have problems now.

What the self-installer might have done is to over-write the default gauges. You can retrieve them from one of the .cab files on one of the original CDs (don't know which one - others here will be able to tell you).

Yeh, I don't like self-installers either. I get around it by installing them to a temporary file that's nowhere near the FS9 folder, and then just copy over what I need.

;)

To check it out I d'loaded their CRJ200 (guessing it would use the Lear panel) and pointed the installer to a dummy folder. The only thing it installed was the aircraft's folder. Dont know if this is the same with all their d'loads.

Dont know where your lear gauges went, but you can recover from CD2\MSGAME3.cab. If you sort the files using the 'Path' column you'll find the gauges grouped for easy copy.

If you d'loaded their crj200 (a posky) there is a nice replacement panel. Search for
replacement_project_opensky_crj_panel.zip

Dave,

It was the Canadair Regional Jet under the regional section.

If you could check for me I'd sure appreciate it.

Also, I was pressed for time so didn't turn off FS and start it back up...it may have just been a bug but I will find out for sure after work when i try again.

Well darn.

I didn't get a chance to start the game and see if it fixed itself but should be able to do some online flying this evening.

If its still broke I may just alias the panel file to a 737 or something. I really didn't like the Lear panel anyways  :)

There is a nice replacement panel for the CRJ here at SimV (the same panel I mentioned above).

Good view in  2d panel and a VC although its not interactive.
