Kind of a silly question -- but how do you take a screenshot with the "print scrn" key and then save it as a .jpg?

Go to www.downloads.com and type  in "IrfanView 3.97" in the search field. Download it when you find it.

After you have downloaded it, install it and run it. Press C to begin the screencapture process and press ctrl+F11 to capture a shot. It then automatically saves the shot to a location of your choice. You can save it as either *.jpg  or *.bmp format.

Open MS paint-it'll be in there.  You don't need irfanview, but it is a good addition.

The 'PrintScreen' + editing software route is fine if you just want to take one screenshot, because pressing it again overwrites the previous clipboard contents.

The Irfanview route may be overkill for what you want, as you get a graphics package as well. Middle ground may be something like GrabClipSave which is purpose-designed to save sequential screenies as JPGs or BMPs (your choice) to a folder of your choice just using the 'PrintScreen' button.
