I have some good news for fans of oldtimers, "roaring thirties" and air races.

Since I'm waiting for certain upcoming flight simulator ;) and can't build warbirds right now, I've moved to "peace time" production aimed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.

The idea for "Races'n'Records" series was born.

As we know, 1920s and 1930s were still pioneering years of aviation - first there was a surplus of airplanes and pilots after Great War, then the developments of technology allowed to fly faster, higher and farther. Many air shows, rallies and races were organized both in USA and Europe. And it wasn't only C.Lindbergh who dared to make a very long and dangerous flight. No wonder that everyday newspapers and radio covered those events, as people were truly interested in those aerial stunts and those magnificent men in their flying machines, who were treated like celebs.

I'm a great fan of history of aviation, so I have conceived a series of add-ons focusing on the most memorable of Polish planes from 1930s, which took part in international contests of touring aircraft - Challenges, which featured an air rally around the Europe (few thousand kilometers!), National Air Races in USA and various European air races, aircraft which were exhibited on famous Salon de l'Aviation in Paris and also the airplanes which made long flights, like around the Africa or across the South Atlantic.

You can lear more from my article here:

I invite you to www.rr.9-1939.pl website, where you can find more information about this project and people engaged in it, see latest development updates (screenshots!) and ask questions on our forum.

Our first aircraft - RWD-9 - is already "in production".

You can also expect to find other downloads on our website - we plan to add more repaints of existing FS2002/2004 aircraft (Ju 52/3m coming soon), custom made flights (recreating actual ones), scenery objects (I'm making a balloon :D from Gordon Bennett Cup Race), as well as wallpapers etc.

Gentlemen, start your engines!

A very intersting concept...I've seen two air races...both of which were quite the spectacle.

I wish you luck in your endeavor.
