were do you find the right airspeed for lowering and raising flaps I have some checklists But the speeds arent listed, I am using the default 737 speeds for most airliners. and that cant be right on the 747.LOL ;D I really only need 737-700, 752, and 744.

I tend to set speed to around 280-250 KIAS, before setting some flaps, and progressively increase them as speed slows down, this is probably wrong, but it works for me.

This has worked for me on 737, 747, 757, etc.

at 20 miles out when they direct you to final approach I hit 10% flaps and back speed off to 185-175.

at 8 miles out I move flaps to 25%, drop gear, and move speed to 165.

when runway is close and in sight (3-4 miles?) I hit 30%+ flaps and slowly come off the speed.

Just at touchdown I hit the spoilers, reverse thrusters, and brakes. Has been working for me perfectly.

The 747 speeds are shown on the default panel ..... 1,2 and 5 degrees are all 250kts and below ....... as for the others I can't remember but they will be in the kneeboard.

Well, you should be touching down between 140 kts and I guess if you push it 155 kts....and although you can lower flaps at 250 kts it's a lot safer to just drop your speed to around 220 kts then 185 kts, then I usually pull my airspeed back to about 155 kts before letting all my barn doors down.

I should note that I fly to Air Canada's SOP so now I land w/ flaps in configure 3 to "save" on fuel costs. I wait till I'm about on my 5 mile final then will set my flaps to the proper landing config and drop the gear....like I said, it "saves" on fuel costs.

Hi sonic,

These are the settings for the M$ default Boeings, as found in the kneeboard of each plane.

As for the 752 & 744 I'm not sure. Have you tried lookng through the 'Aircraft Manuals & Checklists' at the bottom of the SimV downloads page??

Cheers,

TSC.

The following figures come from Bill Bulfurs (he is a 737 captain and author of many 7X7 publications)Cockpit Companion for the Boeing 737.

737 300/500
1 - 230 kt
2 - 230 kt
5 - 225 kt
10 - 210 kt
15 - 195 kt
25 - 190 kt
30 - 185 kt
40 - 158 kt

737 - 400
1 - 250 kt
2 - 250 kt
5 - 250 kt
10 - 215 kt
15 - 205 kt
25 - 190 kt
30 - 185 kt
40 - 162 kt

737 - 600/700
1 - 250 kt
2 - 250 kt
5 - 250 kt
10 - 210 kt
15 - 195 kt
25 - 170 kt
30 - 165kt
40 - 156 kt

737 - 800/900
1 - 250 kt
2 - 250 kt
5 - 250 kt
10 - 210 kt
15 - 200 kt
25 - 190 kt
30 - 175 kt
40 - 162 kt

Unfortunatly with FS9 there is no flap load relief on the 737 model, so exceeding FS9 paramiters, will damage the flaps.

Matt

PS. the cockpit companaions are also available for 757, 767, 747, 777  www.cockpit-companion.com
As a 737 Tech, I never leave home without mine. They are not just full of pilot "stuff", but many, many tit bits too!!

I have the 752 flap speeds.. I'm at work right now, I'll post them when I get home.

However, there's very specific procedures for using them, because the POSKY 752's .air file is messed up, as the flaps create WAAAAAAY too much lift and drag.

This is only semi-unrealistic, and only that because FS doesn't allow you to deploy spoilers to the flight detent setting.

Descend at 280 knots, -1800FPM until 12,000ft, and then disengage A/T and hit F1 to ensure your throttles are idled (they should be already).  Reset the speed knob to 240.  Deploy the spoiler (/).  Your speed should drop quickly.  Once it reaches 250 kts, simultaneously lower the spoilers, drop 1 notch of flaps, and increase thrust.  When the speed has stabilised, hit A/T again-if you do it too soon, it'll greatly increase thrust and you'll shoot over 250 kts as you approach 10,000 ft.

The flaps on the POSKY 752 create such a drastic speed reduction, you can only drop flaps in tandem with reducing speed.

When you reduce speed to say, 220, as you prepare to turn final, drop 5 flaps.

As you make your turn to final, reduce speed to 190 and drop 15 flaps.

As you approach ILS intercept (or glideslope intercept), reduce speed to intercept speed (150 kts) and drop 20 flaps.

When localiser alive, reduce speed to roughly 125 kts and drop 25 flaps. (do you have a 752 landing speeds manual?  If you have the one put out by Eurocom airlines, you need to take whatever landing speeds they give you and subtract 25 kts to get VREF-the ones they give you are WAY too fast for the POSKY flaps, you'll be 10 degrees nose down-if you DONT have the 752 manual, I'll be happy to email it to you)

This method is time tested-I have 45 logged landings in the 752, I'm telling ya, this works ;)

Cool thanks you all I right them down.
