could someone please give me a little help installing global terrain mesh by  Stephen Rothlisberger. I found the tutorial and the read me but I'm still confused.

also is it worth all the trouble. I would love to see screenshots with a before and after.

Thanks in advance

I just got FS last week. I have downloaded and successfully installed planes from this site but scenery seems to be more complicated

I got the map and downloaded the file for my area. I set it up just like the readme said to. My file extension is identical to yours. Now, how do I activate it? I go to the scenery library but can't find it

thanks a bunch

..Once you have set up and activated one area from the scenery library as Sonic explained ...you just have to place any other areas into the same folder ...no need to activate any more.

....unless like me you want to keep them all seperate then a new folder will be needed for each area (aptly named) complete with it's own scenery folder to hold the downloaded area file. Each of them will need to be activated. That way I can just use the ones I am flying over.....Totally unneccessary but I love to keep all my files in order especially scenery....commoner ;D

works perfect, my town is now a town. I love it , thanks alot guys

I was trying, like a duup, to load the spacific file, not the folder. Noobieism at its finest

I plan on gettin the whole Us first, Then on to the rest of the world. I would love to have all the roads. and more spacific scenery for the USA and Canada. If anybody's got any suggestions, I would appriciate it.

This little addiction I'v got goin, is almost like the "hot wheel craze" of 76'

I'm also lovin the Rilo Sport Plane, you can find it here

Although the mesh sounds good, I'm not so sure I want it, due to the errors that have been reported concerning it.  Mostly, this concerns the altitude a various airports and other features.  Unless the mesh altitude matches the airport altitude set in FS2004, the airport ends up on a "mesa"  or in a hole.

My question is, typically, how often do you encounter this sort of problem?

Quite a lot ............. but that isn't always the fault of the mesh. The sheer amount of data that has to be compressed, collated and averaged out means that errors  creep in even in the default mesh. So what happens when you add more detail? ...... the errors increase.

I would suggest going for the world mesh it adds so much to the scenery and all for nothing. Believe me it's as good as the Payware world mesh.
